SLG Benefits respects
the confidentiality of medical information and will protect that
information in a responsible manner. We have a comprehensive privacy
program in place that limits access to personal medical information to
only those persons who need to know said information to provide the
products and services in which SLG Benefits manages. These products
and services are inclusive of, but not limited to Excess Loss (medical
stop loss) underwriting and reimbursement adjudication. These persons
who have access to medical information are trained and monitored on
the appropriate safeguarding of this sensitive material.
Confidential medical information may mean information that is
individually identifiable health information. Usually this information
is assigned a unique identifier as part of a safeguarding process.
This may include information that is submitted to SLG Benefits from a
third party administrator, health care provider, a health plan,
utilization review vendor or consultant appointed by an employer
group. SLG Benefits limits the collection of confidential medical
information to that which is necessary to manage, service and
administer in-force and prospective business opportunities. The
collection of confidential medical information is for the use of and
under the auspice of Health Care Operations.
Before we make a significant change to our privacy practices, we will
change this notice and send the new one to our current business
partners. This new notice will be effective for all medical
information that we maintain, including medical information we created
or received before the changes were made.
